Ayutthaya was once the capital of Thailand so naturally, it has a lot of rich background and history. Unfortunately, a lot of these stories have been buried and forgotten. Fortunately, the Japanese Government recognized the importance of making sure that the present generation understands the history of Ayutthaya. This is the reason why they funded the Ayutthaya Historical Study Centre.
If you’re thinking that it’s boring, you’re mistaken. You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how the centre was put together. Of course, the centre features an impressive museum filled with displays that bring you back to the time when Ayutthaya was the nation’s capital. You’ll see the rise of the city and you’ll also see its cultures and traditions. There is also a library filled with materials that show the city’s history.
The centre is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm but it wouldn’t take the whole day to check out the whole centre. You can also visit the Chao Sam Phraya National Museum afterwards since it’s close to it.
