I traveled solo to Bangkok for work and had one free day before everything started. Since it was my first time in the city and I had limited time, I booked this tour. That choice turned out to be the best decision I could have made.
Waza, my guide, was absolutely wonderful. She was kind, funny, and totally in tune with my interests. Right from the start, she met me in my hotel lobby, asked what I wanted to see, and discussed my preferences for transportation and weather. I chose to use public transit, and we set off immediately.
The tour happened to fall on the King’s birthday, a national holiday. Because of that, the Grand Palace was closed, and the city was packed. However, Waza adjusted the plan on the spot and still made the day full of sights and discoveries.
We began at Wat Phra Kaew, which opened briefly that morning. Just as we arrived, officials restricted access because the King was present. Waza found a perfect viewing spot, and we actually saw the King as he left. That unexpected moment became one of the highlights of the day. Once inside, she shared the temple’s history in a clear and engaging way.
We then considered visiting Wat Arun, but the river ferry lines were long due to closures for a Royal Barge ceremony. I told Waza I really wanted to take a long-tail boat ride, and she made it happen. She spoke with the right people and navigated the situation with ease. Thanks to her, we got on a boat without much delay. That ride turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the tour.
Later, we stopped at a restaurant that served vegetarian food, which Waza had picked based on my diet. Then we visited Wat Pho, where she pointed out interesting details and led me to the best photo angles.
In the afternoon, we wandered through the Flower Market and explored nearby produce and herb stalls. Whenever the heat got intense, we ducked into air-conditioned shops for a break. Throughout the day, Waza kept offering options and let me set the pace, which made the experience feel relaxed and personal.
To wrap up the day, we took a scenic river boat and hopped on the Skytrain back to my hotel. The tour checked every box—it was efficient, flexible, informative, and fun. Waza even gave me tips for evening activities, which I ended up trying and loving.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bangkok for the first time.
