When we met Choochai in the hotel lobby, he was well presented and immediately came across as knowledgeable, intelligent, and mature. Early in the day, he asked what we hoped to get out of the tour. As diplomats living elsewhere in Southeast Asia, we were eager to gain deeper insight into Thai culture – particularly its recent political and historical developments.
Choochai rose to the challenge with impressive depth and clarity. By the end of the day, we felt genuinely informed on all the topics we’d been curious about. He is truly a fountain of knowledge when it comes to Thai culture, history, and politics.
The tour itself was primarily walking, with well-planned subway, bus, and river boat segments that gave us a great sense of the city’s transport system – very helpful for the rest of our stay. Lunch was at a modest neighborhood restaurant, simple and authentic, which felt perfectly local.
