We picked Your Thai Guide following the excellent reviews and all I can say is that I’m so glad that we did.
We were two older couples who had booked three nights in Bangkok as part of a tour of Thailand and were looking for a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide to take us around the main sites of the city.
We picked Nina and couldn’t have asked for anyone better. She was friendly, knowledgeable, spoke excellent English and took us all round the main sites as well as the less touristy areas which we were keen to do as we wanted to experience the `real` Bangkok.
We gave Thai Guide a brief idea of what we wanted to do when we booked and then when Nina arrived at our hotel she went through a little more of what we wanted to see and gave some suggestions. We went on every form of transport imaginable including the local river ferry, local bus, Tuk Tuk (all five together) and of course walking.
She suggested we gave her a small amount of money each at the beginning of the day so that she could pay all the fares which including her own, we also paid for lunch but as the local transport and restaurants are so cheap it didn’t cost much. In the morning we did all the usual touristy sites and then Nina took us to a restaurant that she said did the best curry in Bangkok which must be true as its where the `Hairy Bikers` had filmed one of their cookery programmes.
Then in the afternoon we did a walking tour of part of the city including the local markets and Chinatown. Sometimes we were the only tourists there but that wasn’t an issue as Nina was very knowledgeable and helped us find places to buy the goodies we wanted to buy and the locals were all very friendly. We were lucky with the weather as it stayed dry but do make sure you take wet weather gear just in case.
I have to say it was money well spent and would thoroughly recommend booking a private tour guide with Thai Guide and would definitely choose Nina. If you are reading this thanks Nina for a brilliant day and hope you enjoyed your take home curry.
