Meeting Guide Elena

My husband and I booked a two day tour with Elena for our first time in Bangkok. She was so nice and accommodating.

Guide Elena helped us get our bearings with the train systems, water taxi, and food. She was very flexible with our schedule by recommending things we should avoid or should see based on our timeline.

Elena made some great restaurant recommendations.

She took us to all the major temples and explained their history thoroughly.

I would recommend this tour company to anyone going to Thailand and make sure you ask for Elena

Our guide Elena arrived our hotel at 7am, then we discussed what we wanted to see. We started from 7 am, she advised us on where to go and how.

Very helpful to have her, so no need to get screwed by the taxi drivers which over charge when they see whites.

She helped us to find the right transportation to move within the city, especially when it came to cross the river (with the locals, on a ferry for only 15 baths each!).

I recommend this tour for those who don’t really know what to do and how to get there. She would bring up ideas, then you define the plan of the day. She is knowledgeable, patient and passionate by her job.

One of the highlights of the tour was our 3-day stop in Bangkok.

We hired Elena (and driver) from “Your Thai Guide” based on the reviews here on Trip Advisor.

We had an absolutely fantastic time and could not imagine trying to do everything without Elena’s assistance. She was extremely personable, knowledgeable, passionate about Thailand and her people, and a lot of fun!

She was very flexible on our itinerary and changed things up for us when she recognized we were all “templed out” on the second day and quickly came up with some alternative options on-the-fly.

Elena was very knowledgeable about different types of Thai food.

We ate some amazing Thai food (see photos) that was completely off the beaten path. Some of the absolutely best Thai food we have ever had and would have never tried if it weren’t for Elena.

If you are considering a trip to Thailand (not just Bangkok), I urge you to consider Your Thai Guide, particularly Guide Elena!

I am so glad I booked this tour.

I wanted to see some of the main sights of Bangkok, but getting around had me worried.

I figured we would at least not have to worry about how to negotiate taxi rates if we had a guide.

However, not only did I not have to worry about that, but I felt very comfortable with all the forms of transport we used – boat, taxi, tuk-tuk and MRT!

Guide Elena was also very informative on the history of Thailand and beliefs of the people, which was really wonderful.

I enjoyed learning about everything as we toured the Grand Palace, Jim Thompson’s house, Wat Pho, and Wat Phra Kew.

Elena met me at the condo where I was staying, which is quite a distance from the city center. She arrived smiling, and stayed that way throughout the entire tour.

We stayed by hopping on the BTS Skytrain, switching at Siam station, and heading to the Jim Thompson house. Elena waited while the guide inside the Jim Thompson house conducted a brief (~45 minute) tour, and then we hopped on a boat and took that farther into town.

We climbed to the top of Wat Saket (not a strenuous climb, very low steps make it easy for those who have difficulty with stairs, and plenty of places to rest) and got some great views of the city.

We then headed to Wat Pho (absolutely beautiful) where Elena guided me through some Buddhist rituals, including lighting incense for a prayer, and applying gold leaf to a statue of the Buddha.

Next up was the Grand Palace, which was stunning in its opulence and colors. We went late in the day, just prior to closing, and it seemed less crowded. It was a great time to visit.

We ended the day on Khao San Road, where Elena helped me haggle some great prices (sometimes, you just want that really cheesy souvenir and end up with the most comfortable pajamas ever.)

Elena’s final act of the day was finding me a cab back to Siam station that wouldn’t rip me off (the first 5 taxis refused to turn on the meter) and probably saved me a few hundred baht in the process.

Overall, a great day with someone who very quickly felt like a friend. I’d definitely recommend this tour to those who want to see the big sights.

Five wonderful days in the Kanchanaburi region with guide Elena from Your Thai Guide.

We spent 5 days from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi and back with Elena as our guide. Elena was wonderful, she took care of all the hassle and made certain we were able to enjoy every minute of the trip. Elena understood our pace (very relaxed ) well and made sure there was no rush nor stress. A special thanks to the driver, who anticipated to the traffic really well, making the drive very comfortable and safe. Great driving skills.

We had a full day layover between flights which we have wisely used to visit Bangkok. Thanks to the perfect organization of YTG, the professional and warm guidance by Elena, we have greatly enjoyed visiting the temples, the boat trip, as well as the food and the Thai massage.

We also had a private and very polite driver who took us from and to the airport. The cost of the entire day was very reasonable. We very strongly and warmly recommend YTG and Elena.

Elena was an amazing tour guide! My flight was an hour delayed, but she was at the airport waiting for me exactly as planned even though I was so late. She was able to accommodate everything I wanted to do in a short time and knew exactly how to get where we were going each time.

Our tour with guide (Ms Elena) was brilliant.

She was very knowledgeable about the city, and planned our journey well. The tour was flexible and we were able to see all the sights we wanted to, before Elena suggested a great end to the day at Jim Thompson house. Elena was very attentive with my elderly mother, helping her up and down the steeper steps and looking out for her at all times.

I’m so happy I booked with this agency, Elena was one of the best guides I’ve ever had.

She was very knowledgeable about every place we visited in Bangkok and Ayutthaya, and wonderful to talk to and hang out with.

She even continued to look after me when she was off the clock. When it came time to leave Bangkok, she waited at the train station with me and made sure I was safely on the correct one.

Elena has excellent English comprehension to explain all the Thai culture. We shared a great day.

Elena will explain all the history in detail which I wanted to know as I came to study culture and history. She meet my time schedule at Hotel early am. We laid out the destinations and then left. Elena is very conscious of when you need a cold water and break. Which is a good bond with a private guide.

We never stopped; She used all modes of transport in city and taught me.We visited the Grand Palace in detail; then the 5 Great Wat’s had a fun lunch together. Then back to my hotel when she saw I was exhausted at 6pm.

Oh and I got to shop for Thai silk.

Our experience visiting the temples of Bangkok would never be the same without our guide Elena. She is so passionate about Thai history and culture, and we learned so much from her.
